Woven Patterns

In this exhibition, Gwen Partin explores the relationship of people and their environment, reflecting on and questioning how humans fit in the schema of nature. This series of artists books and accompanying monotype and collagraph prints call attention to the beauty of the human/nature relationship, in the spirit of quiet gratitude.

Following a Thread - new works on paper by Gwen Partin
Description
Form+Content Gallery presents Following a Thread, an exhibition of new works on paper by Gwen Partin. The artist explores textile-related forms through intaglio, monotype and collagraph prints, artists' books, drawings and collages. Remnants, a series of wall hangings, includes quilt-like constructions of paper and fabric scraps with hand embroidery. Portfolios of drawings and hand-bound artists' books can be viewed and handled with gloves. Prints and drawings accompany the wall hangings.
Pandemic Art Lessons: A Women’s Art Institute Online Initiative
Invitational Exhibition
October 26 – December 11, 2020
Curators' Statement
During these months of the coronavirus pandemic, subsequent isolation and social upheaval, artists have turned on their creativity, delving deeply into their studio practice. While some have taken on these events as a subject, others have seemingly worked in opposition to its effect on our lives. In these wide-ranging responses to our invitation, artists demonstrate that art cannot be denied even in these confounding times. We are proud and pleased to present the work of these sixteen women and non-binary artists and the lessons they have gleaned from these past months grappling with the coronavirus pandemic.
